Allensworth Announces Katherine Beran and Jack Byrom as Newest Partners
Allensworth is proud to announce that Katherine L. Beran and Jack E. Byrom have become partners, effective January 1, 2026.
Katherine and Jack have been exceptional members of the team, consistently demonstrating outstanding legal acumen, a dedication to achieving meaningful outcomes for clients, and their leadership that drives the firm’s growth and enriches the broader construction law community.
Katherine Beran
Katherine is an invaluable leader in the firm’s defense of design professionals. Her expertise has expanded the firm’s capabilities in representing architecture and engineering clients facing complex design defect and delay claims on both public and private infrastructure and vertical projects. A seasoned trial lawyer and appellate advocate, Katherine has successfully first-chaired a trial in federal court, served as an integral member of a trial team who secured a multi-million-dollar judgment for an industry client, secured a permanent injunction, and briefed and argued state and federal appeals—particularly those involving the certificate of merit statute.
Her focus on the craft of trial advocacy continues to distinguish her in the courtroom, and as a partner, reflects a commitment to extending that advocacy beyond individual matters to advance access to justice through pro bono representation for individuals facing crisis and disaster. Katherine is active in the industry through her membership in the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law and the Urban Land Institute – Austin.
Jack Byrom
Jack is instrumental in strengthening Allensworth’s ability to navigate multifaceted disputes through his holistic approach and substantive expertise. A Board-Certified Construction Law specialist, he consistently illuminates patterns and draws connections that clarify even the most layered matters, delivering actionable solutions that inspire confidence in both clients and colleagues. His experience spans all types and levels of projects, from lien and bond claims to complex commercial and industrial disputes and more.
Beyond his practice, Jack mentors first-year students at The University of Texas School of Law, contributes regularly to the State Bar of Texas Construction Law Section’s newsletter, The Change Order, and assists with Allensworth’s biennial legislative update initiative—an in-depth analysis designed to keep clients informed of legislative developments that directly impact their work in the construction industry. He also shares his insights as a subject-matter expert at industry conferences.
Looking Forward
Katherine and Jack are characterized by sound judgment, a deep understanding of their clients’ businesses, and the ability to assemble the right teams to resolve complex matters efficiently. Both excel at identifying practical solutions that avoid the courtroom, while remaining equally formidable when disputes proceed to litigation or arbitration.
They have played—and will continue to play—pivotal roles in advancing the firm’s emphasis on excellence in client service and leadership in construction law. The entire team at Allensworth extends our congratulations to Katherine and Jack on these well-deserved promotions.
